Q&A with Jess Jonassen | Saturday Cricket Club

Aussie lefty all-rounder Jess Jonassen reveals her guilty pleasure TV shows and more in this Q&A for the Saturday Cricket Club.

• What are you listening to at the moment? 
  I'm listening to a combination of current songs and some "blasts from the past" — anything to help get me through pre-season training!
  
  
• What's the last show you binge watched? 
  I last binge-watched a Welsh police drama called Hinterland. Prior to that was The Sinner and Animal Kingdom.
  
  
• Which is your favourite city in the world that you haven't played cricket in? 
  It would have to be somewhere in the States or playing in Cape Town with Table Mountain in the background!
  
  
• What's your favourite piece of art in your home? (Please provide a picture!) 
  We have a big Maree Davidson rainbow meerkat in the dining area — it really brightens everything up!
  
  
  
• What's a piece of advice you were given that's stuck with you? 
  Tough times don't last, but tough people do.
  
  
• Is there any advice you've been given that you wish you could unlearn? 
  "You should try and be like ________" (essentially encouraging me to play and be like someone other than me!) Everyone should be encouraged to discover who they are as an individual and be guided in the direction of being comfortable with that and owning it.
  
  
• What's a guilty pleasure of yours? 
  Where do I begin! It would probably have to be watching some of the cringiest reality TV show like MAFS or a few of my song choices on Spotify!
  
  
• What's your favourite meal to cook? 
  Homemade pizza or salmon.
  
  
• What's your least favourite food? 
  Anything spicy!
  
  
• If your consciousness could exist in the body of another person for a day, whose body would you choose? 
  I would love to exist in either P!nk or Barack Obama. They have such cool lives and I'd love to be able to experience that!
  
  
• What's your all-time favourite sport movie? 
  We Are Marshall or Coach Carter.
  
  
• What's the most recent thing that you failed at? 
  Growing grass in my backyard! My dog might be part to blame with that one though!
  
  
• What do you think your life will look like 5 years from now? 
  Hopefully still doing what I'm doing now, living the dream and finally married (because COVID will hopefully be a thing of the past by then!)
