Top 10 Cricket Bats 2020-21
The time has arrived! We've taken a look back on the cricket bats from this season and have selected what we think are the Top 10 Cricket Bats from the 2020/21 season. We've chosen these based on a variety of factors, including quality, willow grade, performance, and value for money. There are certainly other excellent bats that didn't make our list, but we feel like these deserved a top spot!
It's been a crazy year for everyone dealing with the global effects of COVID-19, and its impact on the cricket world has not gone unnoticed. As a result, at the time of filming this video, we had already sold out of some of the season's best bats, but felt they deserved to be on our list anyway!
So without further ado, here's our list! Check out the YouTube video for more!
Part of New Balance's DC range and modelled after the bat shape of Australian superstar Steve Smith, the value for money in this English willow power bat is essentially unmatched. The Smithy shape and killer performance without the huge price tag earns this bat a spot in our Top 10 for the season.
MRF's entire range has been fantastic this year (no surprises there), but the Genius Grand Edition 3.0 strikes a particularly excellent balance between performance and value for money. Being a Genius model, it's designed in the shape of Indian master Virat Kohli, so you can get a great shape and exceptional performance at a very reasonable price.
When we put out our Top 10 lists, people are always asking us, "Where are the CA bats?" The truth is, CA produces excellent bats year after year, and this season especially, we felt like the Plus 15000 earned its place in our Top 10 list. Plenty of size and beautiful grain in this Grade 1 model, making it one of their best and one of our favourites from the season.
You might not believe it looking at the price tag, but the performance in the SS TON Gutsy Retro is insane, which makes the value for money even more phenomenal. We're not entirely sure how SS managed to get this level of power out of a Grade 5 value match bat — but boy, did they. It's no wonder this bat was flying off the shelves this season, and rightfully earns its place on our list.
Kookaburra is no stranger to our best-of-season lists, and their first entry on our list this year is the Rapid Pro 2.0. Kookaburra does a brilliant job year after year, and the Rapid Pro 2.0 is one of the most reliably solid value for money bats on offer this season. If you want guaranteed performance and reliable quality at a price you can afford, look no further.
Appropriately named, the handcrafted Ultimate is made down in Melbourne from an excellent selection of English willow and is one of the finest bats Gray-Nicolls put out this season. Just what you want a handmade cricket bat to be, it features a beautifully full shape with plenty of power to spare, and at a perfect price point.
A Kingsgrove Sports exclusive, the Ghost Pro Lite is a special variant on the classic Kooka Ghost for players preferring a lighter bat. We routinely sell out of these year after year, and Kookaburra again have produced an exceptional range of bats for us this year. Light pickup, excellent performance, and an incredible price, the Ghost Pro Lite is the whole package if you're after a lightweight bat.
We admit we're a little bit biased, but please believe us when we say that our Kingsport Immortal range this season has been especially incredible. We always aim to give you the best quality for the best price possible, and let's just say you might pay nearly twice as much for a bat of this quality from another brand. The Immortal packs incredible performance in its gorgeous Grade 1 English willow profile, and with a sleek refined sticker design to match. It's definitely one of our favourite picks from the season.
Yet another Kookaburra appearance on our list this year, the Ghost Pro 1.0 is the pinnacle of where quality meets value. The pickup, balance, and performance is outstanding, and at this price point, it's no wonder that the Ghost continues to be one of Kookaburra's most popular ranges. Not to mention the killer minimal white sticker design. We love the Ghost, and so do our customers.
Absolutely elite quality (and the elite price tag to match), but that didn't stop the GM Diamond Ben Stokes Player Edition from completely selling out this season — it's that good. Made specifically to the shape specs of English cricket star Ben Stokes, these bats are, in a word, ridiculous. The ping out of these top-end Grade 1 bats is incredible, and despite the full amount of willow in the shape, the pickup is still exceptionally balanced. Gunn & Moore players bats are consistently some of the best bats in the top-end tier, but in this case, you absolutely get what you pay for, making the Diamond Player Edition our number choice this season.
